Two cards

I used some very pretty journalling notes to make these cards. They have been sitting around for a while as they were too pretty to use!!

For this first one I stamped the flowery swirl and sentiment onto the journal note. I then layered it over the red card and added the gems. Simple but effective!

For the second one I used Grungeboard to make the butterflies, colouring them with Distress Stains and glueing the beads onto their middles. I stamped the sentiment onto the journal note and, again, layered it onto red card. The butterflies and flowers were used as embellishments.

Believe

A piece of art, in my large journal, inspired by the sermon at our church yesterday.

I started by spraying the page with blue, purple and orange Dylusions sprays. Then came the greens. These layers were then softened with a layer of gesso. Next came some stencilling (you can see the numbers at the top and the circles in the lower right corner; the flowers are less obvious!). I stuck on bits of a serviette with a music motif and, once dry, stamped on 'dance' three times. Next, I drew the heart, painted it and edged it with charcoal. I then lightly sprayed it with iridescent gold Glimmer Mist (you might see the shine if you enlarge the picture - double-click on the heart). To finish I added the words and swirls.

Wings

Here is my piece for Take a Word. A very simple collage.

What a challenge!

The challenge from Sunday postcard Art this week was 'happy hour'. I found this a real challenge, but eventually created this.

Something blue ...

It's the Three Muses' second birthday this week and for their theme they have chosen blue. I decided to go for the slightly surreal. One day Mr Jones decided to go to sea in his paper boat and after that he never saw the world in the same light again!!

Gentlemen tag

I started by die-cutting the tag shape out of patterned card and edging it with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. To make the squares I took a piece of white card and used black Stazon ink to stamp on an image of a plan. I then over-stamped this with images of the gentlemen in various colours. From this I punched out some postage stamp squares and coloured them coloured them with Antique Linen Distress Ink, edging them with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.I used foam pads to stick them onto the tag to give some dimension.

Two tags

I die cut the two tags and then coloured the patterned card with Distress Stains. I die-cut the umbrella men using the same card and coloured them with contrasting Distress Stains. To make the men stand out I edged them both with brown pen. I then added the embellishments to the tags - the rings on the first and the stamped quote on the second.

Two small cards

I had difficulty photographing these, so apologies that the perspective seems a bit strange but I just couldn't get the camera at the right angle!

Week 17 of Sherrie JD's jounalling course

I am falling somewhat behind in this course as, although very comprehensive, the videos are quite long and so it takes me a while to watch them. Rather than place a burden on myself,  I have decided to pick and choose which weeks I complete. Week 17 was about creating a peeled paint look by applying acrylic paint over Vaseline. It is quite an effective technique, although it is difficult to see it properly here!

Less is more

Having created some simple journal pages (see posts on April 30th) I decided to try the same technique for some cards. I think some are more successful than others. What do you think? My favourite is the one with the bird.

A bit of fashion

Here are three pages, all using elements from Studio Buttercup's  Viva Vogue kit (@ SBG). I have put them in order of my preference. Which is your favourite?

A bit of steampunk!

You will notice that I have used the same girl in both pieces, but have given her two very different settings!

Two simple cards

I was having a root around in my stash and I found lots of embellishments that I bought when I first started card making. Nowadays, I would tend to make my own but not liking to waste anything I thought I would make a couple of cards. The patterned paper is by Artilicious.

A digital collage

I like to know where I am and what is happening; in other words, I'm a bit of a control freak! I think this might be conveyed in this collage.

Enigma

I created this journal page in my Moleskine. The background is acrylic paint edged with various tapes. The decorations were added with gel pens, more tape, and Sherrie JD's Mona Lisa.

Time piece!

The inner compartments aren't the only thing I have made use of from my altered Configurations boxes. All the inner compartments were lined with cared, requiring cross-shaped pieces to fit the apertures. This meant I had lots of squares cut from the corners of each bit of card. So I stuck some of these pieces onto a brown paper bag to make a background. I attached it to some cardboard to make it sturdier and then proceeded to create this time piece. Hope you like it! (Double-click on it to see it better.)

Configurations ....

Remember those Configuration boxes I altered? You may have noticed that I removed some of the inner compartments to make larger recesses. Well, waste not, want not. I have now used those boxes to make this double-sided piece.

Exposed

That's the theme from Take a Word this week and, oh boy, I have had a lot of fun!. I have created not one, not two, but three pieces, all using elements from Beth Rimmer's kit 'Steamtown Explorers' (from Deviant Scrap). You will see the the first two follow a similar style, whilst the third, my favourite, is very different. Hope you like them.
