Mail

I created this journal page and then realised it fits this weeks theme at Take a Word.

Colour makes me happy!

I have just got home after visiting the David Hockney exhibition at the Royal Academy. If you have the opportunity to go, I would definitely recommend it. The colours he uses are stunning and seeing the pictures he drew on his IPad is very interesting.

Dropping the level a few gears, here is a journal page I created last week. The piece of collaged card is actually part of the packaging of a Dina Wakley stamp. Waste not want not!

... a peaceful heart

Having sprayed the page with water and spray inks, I then used two home-made heart stencils with acrylic paint. I used another stencil with yellow acrylic paint. I then stamped white acrylic paint on a bottle top to create the white circles. I edged the hearts with black oil pastel and added some more acrylic paint. To finish I outlined some of the circles with black pen and added the quote.

Be still ...

I created this journal page at the same time, and in the same way, as the one I posted two days ago.

Miracles happen ...

I started this journal page by applying several layers of spray inks. Next came the gesso, which I scraped through a stencil. I sprayed over that, slightly off-setting the stencil to create more depth. I stamped the figure onto white paper and glued it onto the page, outlining it with grey pen. Lastly, I added the words.

My Valentine's card for my husband

I made this at the same time as I made my postcard for SPA (see below). I then edged it with red vellum and stuck it onto the card.

A birthday card

This is a card I made using my Spellbinder dies. The 6 dots (candy) and the central 'happy birthday' motif are all by Craftwork Cards.

Sunday Postcard Art

I haven't been able to join in SPA for a while because of studying, but I couldn't miss another week! This postcard was made by adding acrylic paint and spray paints, some through a stencil, to watercolour paper. I then stamped on some script and hearts in crimson, and then the black hearts.I added the words digitally after scanning the postcard.

Without mystery ....

I was aiming to create an arty digital piece. You can let me know whether you think I achieved it!

Liebster Award

What a lovely surprise. I have just returned from 3 days away at University to find that Jacqui of Jacques Junque. has given me a blog award.

The award is given to smaller blogs who have less than 200 followers to encourage more people to visit. If you want to join in just follow the steps below ...

1. Link back to the person who gave you the award and thank them
2. Post the award on your blog
3. Give the award to 5 fellow bloggers who inspire you
4. Leave a comment on their blog so they know

So I have chosen:
Karen of Missy K.
Deborah of The Rusty Cage.
Penny of Creative Overflow.  (She's not always around, but it's worth the wait!)

Do not stand ...

The background for this page was created in the same way as the post below. The picture of the graves is a packing tape transfer.

A journal page - waiting for spring!

The background of this page was created by applying Portfolio pastels and then blending them with a baby-wipe. The flowers are stamps (PaperArtsy), stamped onto decorative paper, cut out and outlined with a pen.

Tulip journal page

Obviously, I was a bit premature to think we had missed a severe winter this year. It's pretty cold outside and snow expected tonight... So here's a nice warm page with a tulip offering the hope of spring spring to come.

The background is acrylic paint and oil pastels. The central piece comes from Paper Whimsy.
