The Documented Life - weeks 15 & 16

The prompt for week 15 was to use shades, tints and hues of one colour to create a monochromatic page.

The prompt for week 16 was to add a cardboard food box in a creative way. I used a box that originally contained tea bags.

Irresistible

I create tags and then I never quite know what to do with them, so I added this one to a journal page.

Wednesday 28 May 2014

A simple journal page

I used acrylic paint, scraps of paper and a Dina Wakley face stamp to create this page.

The Documented Life - weeks 13 & 14

For week 13 we were prompted to ask someone else to draw something in our journal and then finish it. My husband drew the tree and sun in black pen. I then added to it and coloured  it in.

For week 14 we were asked to write our name and embellish it. I cheated and used chipboard stickers! I stamped all the flowers and then coloured them with acrylic paint pens.

Art Journal Caravan - week 19

The theme of observation continues for week 19 along with the prompt 'inexplicable'. My digital piece is about the mysteries of life and nature. There are lots of tiny miracles all around us!

Journal page

I used Dina Wakley's moon face stencil to create the face on this page. I think she looks rather quizzical.

Imperfection

Sometimes, my journal pages turn out a little weird, like this one! It didn't turn out quite how I envisaged it, but hey, we don't learn if we don't experiment.

The Documented Life - weeks 10 - 12

Week 10
Make a list of things that make you.

Week 11
Add a bird to your page.
This page was decorated using my own decorative tape.

Week 12
Cut a magazine - add.
I didn't use a magazine. Instead, I used some of my own decorated deli paper.

The Documented Life - weeks 7 - 9

Week 7
Draw one shape - repeat - add color.

Week 8
Add a flap to your flap.

Week 9
Collage something you recycle (the butterflies are punched from an old map).

The Documented Life - weeks 4 - 6

Week 4
The prompt was 'add an envelope from your mailbox'. I was a bit creative with this. The circles are punched from the patterned inside of an envelope and then decorated.

Week 5
Add a doodle border.

Week 6
Open your Pinterest board and be inspired. Roben-Marie Smith is a great inspiration for me, and you will notice I have used several of her postcards on my pages.

For any keen observers also following DLP, I got my prompts for weeks 3 and 4 mixed up. It's me, not you!

The Documented Life Project - weeks 1 - 3

Rather late, I have joined the Documented Life Project (DLP). I kept seeing wonderful pictures of other people's planners, which inspired me to join. My is more a diary/art journal than a planner but I am following the prompts given by Art from the 5th and using the same shaped journal (although a different one to the one they suggest).

Here are my first pages:
Week 1
The prompt for week 1 was to add your front door.

Week 2
Incorporate a selfie.

Week 3
Add a secret message and paint over all but one key word.

Two tags

I made these two tags in the same way as those I posted on 15th May.

Life

Here are two pages using Dina Wakley stamps, some stencils, tape and collage with Lin Brown's colours of fresco paints.

Friday 16 May 2014

Really?

A page from my art journal.

Thursday 15 May 2014

Two Tags

To start, I added some Tim Holtz rub-ons on to the tags. I like these, because as well as the black areas they have some clear areas as well so the background shows through even when covered in ink. I then used Distress Stains to colour the tags and, once dry, added the embellishments. I stamped on the lower tag before adding the embellishments.

Who was she?

Here is the back of my mini-book (see my post yesterday).

Monday 12 May 2014

Who was she?

When my Nan died she left a large box of photos. Some of the pictures were of people we didn't know. On one of the pictures my Nan had written 'my friend Alice Weller'. Rather than throw the picture out, I decided to use it in my crafting. My imagination ran a little wild! I ended up with a mini-book. Here are the front pages of the accordion book. Tomorrow I will show the back pages.

Sunday 11 May 2014

Patterned journal page

I created this page using Distress Paints and Ellen Vargo stamps from PaperArtsy. rather different to the pages I posted yesterday!

Saturday 10 May 2014

I am sensitive

A journal age reflecting who I am. The letters refer to my Myers Brigg's personality type.

Friday 9 May 2014

A lifetime of magic

I created these pages using acrylic paint, stencils, pens and some of my own decorated tape.

Three more faces

The first one was 'drawn' with a spatula.

The second is a simple line drawing.

I started the third with a block of paint and then drew the face on top.
