My Documented Life - weeks 48 & 49

The theme for week 48 was gratitude and the prompt for week 49 was to trace a hand onto your page. As I was playing catch-up, I got them the wrong way around!

Week 48

 Week 49

My Documented Life - weeks 45, 46 & 47

I'm very behind, but trying to catch up!
The instruction for week 45 was to add a tab to the page.

For week 46, the prompt was to incorporate fabric into the page.

The prompt for week 47 was to add a map to the page and document something about it.

Art Journal Caravan - weeks 48 & 49

The prompt I used for week 48 was to use one of my photos. I chose one of the poppy installation at the Tower of London, a very powerful art work. Not sure how much I like my piece, but here it is:

The prompt for week 49 was about how we measure our lives.

It's not who you are ...

... that holds you back, it's who you think you are not.

Quiet moments ..

At this time of year it is nice to grab some quiet moments, particularly if not everything is making sense!

The most novel experience

This is a little piece I created on a cardboard oblong. I used acrylic paint and stencils to create the background, stuck on the image of the lady (stamped on tissue paper) onto the background and added the border stamps.

Tuesday 9 December 2014

A couple of weeks ago I was fortunate enough to attend a workshop led by Anne Dabrowska, aka Finnabair. It was a great afternoon and this is what I came home with, a 20 x 20cm canvas full of texture, colour and embellishment. The picture is of me when I was about twelve.

Art Journal Caravan - week 45

This month (November, I'm behind!), AJC is centred around love, grace and gratitude.

Party!

The background of this page is both Spray Ink, stamped from a stencil, and acrylic paint, all left over from other projects. As are the stamps. I added the dots to the black tag and then attached the face to it, having sprayed ink through a stencil and then cut it out.I like the contrast of the black tag against the coloured background.

My Documented Life - week 44

The prompt for week 44 was to 'incorporate leaves onto your page in a creative way'. I used real leaves and painted them. They may not last the course, as they are quite brittle now, but I like how they look.

My Documented Life - week 43

I'm playing catch up again! The prompt for week 43 was to 'sketch what you see right now'. Well in our house I am surrounded by books.... I didn't attempt to sketch them, but took a sketch-like picture on my phone and then added the book wrapping paper.

Two Tags

Although these tags look quite different, I made them in the same way. For the background I used Distress Spray Stains and stencils. I then stamped the ladies onto card, coloured them and stuck them to the tags. To  them I added the tape, rub-ons and bows. The second is my favourite. What about you?

A Wonderful Life

For the background of this tag I used spray inks with a stencil and some of Tim Holtz's rub-ons. I stamped the face onto white card and added the body. I coloured it and attached it to the tag. I added the tape at the bottom and the bow to finish it.

Cards

It is always useful to have some spare cards and so I made these. I used acrylic paint for the background and then stamped on the flowers and random dots. I then added small pieces of Washi tape to give extra detail. I mounted the squares onto brown card to provide some definition against the white background.

Wednesday 5 November 2014

I haven't drawn some faces for a while, so thought it was about time I did. I drew it on a background of acrylic paint and some spray ink applied through a stencil.

My Documented Life - week 42

I think you will be able to guess the theme for week 42 ... stars!

Sunday 2 November 2014

My Documented Life - week 41

The prompt for week 41 was 'polka dots'. I'm not sure whether my dots count as polka dots, but with a jot of creative license ...

Friday 31 October 2014

A bit of colour

I created this art journal page using acrylic paint, Dylusions spray ink and Dina Wakley's stencils and stamps. I like it. Hope you do too!

Art Journal Caravan - week 40

The theme for this week was 'the road less travelled'.

Black and white tags

Having created a black & white page for week 36 of My Documented Life journal I decided I liked it so much that I would also decorate some tags in the same way. I'm not sure they were quite so successful, particularly as I added some colour to the second, which I'm not sure abut now, but here they are!

My Documented Life - week 40

The instructions for week 40 were to 'paint or colour with three colours you never use'. I found this quite hard as I use most colours in my work, but I went for brown, blue and purple. I don't tend to use brown much and blue and purple are my least favoutrite colours. Nevertheless, I am pleased with how the pages turned out.
