This is my contribution for the Three Muses' theme 'newspaper'.

Grungeboard bracelet

I recently saw Sheena Douglass demonstrate how to make a bracelet from Grungeboard. Well, I couldn't let that one slip by without having a go, and here is the end result:

I have quite big wrists and and I don't like bracelets too tight, so I cut my piece of Grungeboard diagonally. I added the pattern by embossing it using a Cuttlebug embossing folder and then I sprayed an initial layer of Glimmer Mist over it. Once dry, I swiped an Archival Ink pad over the raised areas and the edges. Then I sprayed on two different colours of Glimmer Mist  in alternate patches. I made a small hole at one end and a larger hole at the other using my Crop-a Dile. I made the larger hole bigger with a pencil and attached a hitch fastener through the small hole. It's now ready to wear.

Itinerary 10

The theme from Art Journal Caravan (AJC) this week is 'life is like a circus' or 'to entertain'.

My mixed media pages are layers of acrylic paint and water soluble oil pastels, using Sharpies for the writing and gel pens for highlighting.

Door hanger

This is a papier mache door hanger that I have decorated. I painted the background a metallic green.

Whilst the paint was drying I used a Ten Seconds Studio mould to shape some metal (part of an aluminium sheet). I stuck this to the fish using red line tape and applied Terra paste either side of it, stamping into it with a damp PaperArtsy text stamp. Having dried this with a heat tool, I sponged on some layers of both acrylic and metallic paints. Lastly, I coloured the letters with alcohol inks and stuck them on with Glossy Accents.

This week Art Creations Friday have given us a picture of a little boy to play with. This is the what I have created with it. The window is part of one of my own photographs.

Another tag

This evening I made another tag.

I started out by experimenting with the fragments (the clear plastic pieces) and I have to say I am quite pleased with the results. I then had to decide how to use them and a tag seemed the obvious choice. So I coloured it with Distress Ink and then embossed it with clear embossing powder. Before adding the fragments I stuck on the scraps of paper to give more interest. Lastly, I added the ribbons and metal embellishments.

More Holtz

I experimented with water stamping on this tag.

To start I coloured the tag with Distress Inks. I then applied embossing ink onto a stamp and sprayed it with water before stamping it onto the tag. I used a heat tool to dry it. Then I stamped the same image over the wet stamping and applied Distress embossing powder. I inked some Grungeboard elements and applied Rock Candy stickles. Lastly came the ribbons.

I have had some fun experimenting with Grungeboard, Distress Stickles, metal elements etc and this is the end result.

Mermaids

The theme at Sunday Postcard Art this week is 'mermaids'. I am not a mermaid person and I have no pictures of mermaids, so I was going to sit this one out, but I don't like to give up too easily, so here it is, albeit rather late!

Journal page

This is a journal page I created the other evening, whilst sitting in front of the televsion. I was getting a bit bored, hence the theme!

It has an acrylic background and then I highlighted the words and added further colour using water soluble oil pastels.

Itinerary 9

The theme this week is imagery, an image that really inspires us.

This is my mixed media piece: an acrylic paint background with abstract elements added; acrylic paint crosses made by using masking tape; words written using Sharpies; and additional decorations in gel pen.

And here is my digital page. The main image is a sculpture of a violinist which belongs to my church. The amazing thing about it is that it is made from disused guns, which speaks to me of a message of hope.

Compelling - collage

This is a digital collage, but using a scanned image of a beeswax background that I made a while back. (You can see how I used it originally, HERE.) This time I added the photo, some additional elements and the black frame to create quite a different piece.
