... and version 3!
I have to say, I think the first version is my favourite, but it has been fun experimenting! What do you think?
Less is more!
I haven't done any art journalling recently and I wanted to try something a little different, leaving some white space on the paper. Less is more! This is what I ended up with.
I started by spraying some re and yellow paints onto the page and then rolling a paper towel over them. I stamped the hearts in crimson, and the quote and XO in plum. They are all Tim Holtz stamps. I splattered some lilac paint over the page and filled in some of the quote using a lilac pen. I then stamped on the circles using an old bottle top. Lastly, I added the journalling. What do you think?

Changes
Isn't it funny how you can look at something for ages and it seems fine, and then when you look at it at a later time it seems wrong. I was looking at my post of two days ago and thought 'I have put the girls in the wrong pieces', so now I've changed them! Let me know what you think.

Well, guess what I am going to be doing today ... can't wait to see Kate's dress!

Memories ...
... of when I was young.
Memories is the theme at Take a Word this week and I have used a photo of myself and layered it on to one of my masterboards, which was created by hand, to create this piece.

Two journal pages
Just a quickie, as I have had a busy week this week and so I haven't been around much and now I am about to leave for our Good Friday service. I haven't created any journal pages recently, but these are two I made a little while ago and haven't got around to posting. I'm afraid the perspective in the second one looks a bit odd, but I couldn't make the page say flat while I photographed it!

Bee tag
It is probably difficult to see, but the background on this tag is dimensional. I achieved this by applying Artist Spackle through a stencil with lots of hexagons. Once dry I sprayed it with a yellow Glimmer Mist and then swiped light brown paint over the raised areas. The bee stamps are by Stampotique.

Take a Word 25 ...
... and the 25th word is travel. My offering this week is a hand-made tag. It is coloured with Distress Stains, stamped on using Tim Holtz stamps with Staz On and Archival inks. The Old Jalopy is one of Tim Holtz's Sizzix dies cut from resist paper and coloured with Distress Stains and Glimmer Mist . The ribbon is sari waste. Double-click on the car to see it more clearly.

Song titles
This week Sunday Postcard Art challenge us to create a piece with a song title as the theme. Well, I live in London and so I have chosen the Clash's 'London Calling'. The connection between my piece and the song does not go further than the title!

Hopeless at faces!
I am not good at drawing/painting faces, so when I saw this techinique I had to give it a go. Cut out a page with a large face on it from a book or magazine and cover it lightly with gesso. Once it is dry it should still be possible to see the main features and shadowing through it. These are then used as a guideline to draw and paint the face.
Well, I have now made two attempts at this. Once completed, I cut them both out and made a background for each of them. The first will probably make you laugh (she does look a bit like a monkey!), and I nearly didn't show it but parts of it I actually really like, such as her left cheek!
I think the second is much better.

Gratitude is the key to life
The Three Muses' challenge this week is keys. Well, my piece only features one key but hopefully that is enough! Having decorated two Configurations boxes I decided to try and make a virtual one, so here is my digital piece. Double-click on it to see it better.
Credits: Stupidly, I didn't keep a note of where the all different elements came from, but they are all by artists at Deviant Scrap or SBG!

Altered domino
I started by painting the domino and then stuck on the picture (you will see it more clearly if you double-click on the domino) and the words around the edges. I sanded the edges of the picture & stained trhem with Distress Ink. I used Glossy Accents to glaze the domino and to stick the broach pin onto the back. Now it's ready to wear.

Here is my digital piece for Take a Word. Remembrance seems a good title for it.

One fine day ....
... and as it happens it is a glorious day today weather wise and it promises to be a good one in other respects too as I am going to the Big Stamp and Scrapbooking Show at Ally Pally, otherwise known as Alexandra Palace.
I used orange, yellow and brown acrylic paint to create the background of this ATC. I used bubble-wrap to stamp the top layer. The words are a rub-on and the little flower is mae from Tim Holtz's tissue tape.
Enjoy your day!

Sherrie's journalling class
Here are weeks 11 and 12. I love the first and hate the second but hey, you don't learn unless you experiment!
Umbrella
It's sunny outside this morning, but Take a Word want us to create a piece featuring an umbrella. So here it is! Double-click on one of the umbrellas to see it more clearly.
