Art Creations Friday provided us with two images to include in our work this week - a picture of a woman with a parasol and a textured background, which you can see in the lower half of my piece.

Imagine

This is an art journal piece inspired by Milliande at the Milliande Art Community for Women (see the link lower down on the right).  Each day in January she has been posting a mixed media journal page. Mine is based on her page for January 15th.

Art journalling

I have started a year long art journalling course with Sherrie JD, over at Deviant Scrap. It is a very hands-on, mixed media course. Here are my first three pages, all similar, but not the same, as Sherrie's. The main material on these pages is acrylic paint, with the additional use of some pens and pencils to bring out the details. If you want to see more detail just double-click on the picture you are looking at.

Wild and Free

'Botanicals' is the word given to us for the Take a Word challenge this week. I think the botanical elements are fairly obvious in my piece!

That's the challenge from Sunday Postcard Art today. Oh dear, I do hope poor old Leonardo has a sense of humour and isn't rolling in his grave!

It's a wrap

The first GPP Street Team kicks off the year by introducing a series of evidence journalling, pages that record something of significance or serve as a reminder of something one may wish to recall. In the first crusade we have to document evidence of Christmas with wrapping paper and tags etc. Michelle suggests that we record the presents we gave and received. This is how my page ended up.

I made the background by tearing strips of wrapping paper, adding squares of a different, very thin Christmas paper and edging them with gold. I created a pocket using a piece of acetate that I printed on and painted with gold paint. Into it I put two tags that I made a while ago. Onto the back of one I detailed presents I gave at Christmas and on the other presents I received.

Wild at heart

This week, the Three Muses want us to create a piece featuring nature's creatures. As you can see, I went for the tiger.

Figures - a collage

I started this piece by pasting scraps of paper and napkins onto a sheet of card. As you can see, some of the scraps had figures sprayed onto them using a stencil. I applied a light wash of acrylic paint over the piece and sprayed it with graphite Glimmer Mist to create some cohesion. To give a focal point, I drew around the stencil with a pencil and then went over the lines with Tulip silver dimensional paint to create the main figure. I added the 6 lines and the little gems to finish it.

Beauty ....

.... is in the eye of the beholder.

I was having fun playing around with Tangie Baxter's 'Unconventional Wisdom' kit (Scrap Book Graphics) and created this piece. Now, it just so happens that beauty is the theme at Take A Word this week so this is my contribution!

Music

Hobbies and pastimes is the theme from Sunday Postcard Art. I decided my postcard would portray music.
