Snow

Well, it is snowing in London today so here is a wintry, digital piece to look at.

I wish it were summer!

Well, what's wrong with a bit of wishful thinking? Particularly when it is due to snow tonight!

I made this shadow box by reversing a deep canvas, painting it and framing it with Tim Holtz tape, attaching the background paper (from DCWV) and then adding the embellishments. The moths and and flowers were all made using Paper Artsy dies and stamps. I coloured the inside of the little bottle with alcohol ink and rolled up the paper to put inside it and, lastly, added the letters at the top.

Take a Word 5

Home is the theme this week and I decided to create a journal page.

I started by creating a digital piece using elements from Tangie Baxter's & Roben-Marie Smith's Art Stomp kit (at SBG). I then printed it onto labels and stuck some of the labels onto my journal page. I used water-soluble oil pastels and pencils to fill the gaps and make a coherent whole.

Wishlist

Fatma is guest artist at Sunday Postcard Art this week and she has chosen 'wishlist' as her topic. I wasn't quite sure initially how to interpret this, but I had a play around and created this.

Art Creations Friday 97

This week ACF have given us this picture of a bride to play with.

This is what I did with her. Double-click on her bouquet to see the details.

Moleskine journal

I hadn't worked in my Moleskine for a little while, so I decided it was time to go back to it.

This first page I created using a napkin as a background.

The second page I created for a challenge at Roses On My Table, which was opposites. I started by dripping ink onto one side of the page and then closing the book to get a mirror image. I split the page diagonally and painted one side white and the other black, and then added more paint through sequin waste. Then came the words and the red paint and arrows to liven the page up.

Shoes ... or rather boots

Well, it's Wednesday again and The Three Muses have given us the theme of shoes. I interpreted this loosely to mean boots as well!

Itinerary 47

The instruction from Art Journal Caravan this week is to try something new. So I experimented!

For my mixed media piece I decided to try having a big border with a central image and writing around that image, as I haven't done this before. This is the end result.

I don't think I am very girlie, so my experiment with my digital piece was to try and be girlie! You can let me know whether you think I succeeded.

Collage pages

Here are six pages I made using double-sided paper with printed transparencies attached to one side. Various elements were collaged onto both sides of each page using stitching, glue and staples. I have put the pages in order so that you can see the effects of the sewing on both sides of each of the three pages.

Two very different journal pages

Take a Word 4

Well, the word we have been given this week is 'men'. I went for a very tongue-in-cheek interpretation of the singular variety. Hope you like it!

Thanksgiving

Our American friends will be celebating Thanksgiving on Thursday and so this is the theme given to us by Sunday Postcard Art this week. Here is my digital piece.

Creativity Unleashed book

I subscribed to Traci Bautista's '31 daily art journal prompts' course and am enjoying trying out a different style. My hubbie bought me an early Christmas present of a sewing machine (reduced to half price) and so I have been putting this to good use.

My first piece is a journal, in which I have used several of Traci's tips (although not exclusively). Let me know what you think.

Art Creations Friday 96

ACF gave us this sweet little picture this week.

I didn't want to change it much, so I blended in additional background and changed the colour of the original and then added the word in the sand.

Itinerary 46

Writng is the theme at Art Journal Caravan this week.

I started my mixed media piece by filling the page with writing and then writing over that writing in different directions. I then sprayed over it, collaged the figures (c/o R McMeen @ SBG) and added the words 'writing' in dimensional paint.

Here is my digital piece.

Automobile

This is my piece for The Three Muses, whose theme this week is 'automobile'.

Fabric wall hanging

This is one of my first projects using my sewing machine. I sewed several layers of various materials, including different coloured felts, some black lace and some patterned cotton. On top of these I sewed a piece of paper that I had stained slightly with tea and a printed transparency. I then attached this to a large, painted cardboard tag. Simple and yet quite effective!

Itinerary 45

The prompts from Art Journal Caravan this week, and I can't believe we are on week 45 already, are about 'practice'.

I created my mixed media page by scraping three different colours of acrylic paint over the page. I added the Tim Holtz tape to the resulting background, and then stamped and wrote on it, finally adding the flowers as an embellishment.

I created my digital page from the elements supplied by AJC for this week.
