My Documented Life - week 17
This week the prompt was 'before the ink is dry'. I a used Dylusions inks, water and stencils to create my background. I then added the flowers using a blue Stabilo All pencil and water-soluble oil pastels.

Gesso resist background
The backgrounds of these journal pages were created by applying gesso through a stencil and then, once dry, painting over the page. Once dry I gently wiped the gesso with a damp cloth. The gesso resists the paint.

My Documented Life - week 16
The prompt this week was to use a Gelli Plate. I stuck two Gelli Plate prints onto my pages and then painted stamped and collaged on top. Voila!

Tags - Lynne Perrella style
I decorated these tags a while ago and forgot to post them! I started by glueing on some old book papers and the added the black & white figures (c/o Sherrie J Drummond) on top. I used blocks of Portfolio, water-soluble oil pastels to add the colour and then added the drips of ink.

My Documented Life - week 15
The prompt for week 15 was 'cry me a river' with the instruction to use acrylic paint. This is the page I ended up with. Lots of paint with collage and stamping thrown in!

Dina Wakley inspired pages
I have been watching some of Dina's videos and used some of her techniques to end up with these two pages.

The present and future
I started with a collage background, over which I applied acrylic paint, some stamps and rub-ons. I then drew and painted the branch.

Painting with a spatula
I painted this a little while ago and forgot to post it. I am really quite please with how it turned out. A case of 'less is more', I think.

My Documented Life - week 14
The theme for April is about colour and the challenge for this week was to use watercolours. I have not really used watercolours before but recently bought some, so this was a good time to experiment! I pulled out two pages from an old encyclopedia and proceeded to doodle. I painted the flowers in black acrylic and then set to work with the watercolours. I stuck the two pages into my journal and then added the birds (Dina Wakley stamps), branches and quotes. I think I'm going to like watercolours!

My Documented Life - week 13
The prompt for week 13 was to "make a custom element". Inspired by the artists at Art to the 5th I created two pages.
For the first page, I applied my own homemade tape over a yellow background. I wrote the quote "Ride the energy of your own unique spirit" by G Roth between the lines of tape. For the main element I stamped over some strips of the same tape and then applied them, crookedly, onto a piece of card. I mounted it onto another layer and then added the bow.

For the second page, I made a quill from a drinking straw and wrote the quote in several different colours on a piece of white card. I then cut this up and stuck the pieces to my page. I added the bow, and the quote, to complement the opposite page.

More mark-making
This page started with some acrylic paint over which I dragged a paint-soaked piece of string. These marks subsequently became the smoke coming from the houses.
The second page started with some yellow paint, over which I stuck some home-made tape. I added the mauve acrylic paint and then the mark-making, followed by the man, letters and script.
