Let Go

It's the last day of the year, so let's let go of all those things that can harm us and look forward to a new future.

I'm not sure where this journal page came from, but I quite like it! It's a mixture of acrylic paint and pens and collage.

Happy Christmas!

Christmas Greetings!

This Christmas piece was born from a discussion at church about Christmas cards, and how pictures of the nativity are generally romanticised, looking too clean and comfortable. This started out with pieces of scrap paper from magazines, representing the reality of life, glued around simplistic drawings of the manger and the star. I then added several layers of acrylic paint and clear gesso over it. I lightly painted the cross in behind the star and then highlighted all the edges with a black pen. Lastly I added the words, which you can read if you click on the picture.

Gelli Plate Backgrounds

I hope all your Christmas preparations are going well and the last minute rush isn't too hectic!

I made these background a few days ago using acrylic paints and stencils on my Gelli Plate. I hope you like them. I do!

A rather different journal page, compared to my post two days ago, although several of the materials are the same.

Texture

This journal page has just about everything! Paint, inks, tape, ribbons, collage, etc. It has lots of layers as I didn't like the first page I created so it morphed into something else! What do you think?

The writing reads, 'the past becomes a texture, an ambience to our present (P. Scott)'.

Love life & celebrate today

I started this page by gluing on pieces of old wrapping paper (the pink roses). I then filled in the space around it with pink acrylic paint. On top of this I pasted some Artist's Spackle through a stencil, to give some texture. I let this dry overnight. Next day, I splattered on some Distress Inks and then added the little jewels. Lastly, I added the word stickers. Click on the picture to see it at its best.

The Collage of Life

Life is made up of weird and wonderful things, perhaps more so in the Advent period Christmas. That was the inspiration for this digital piece, although I was thinking generally and not about the festivities.

Be open to the day

This journal page started with spray inks used with stencils. I then added some acrylic paint. I drew the face on an old dictionary page, coloured it and stuck it onto the background. To finish, I added the quote.

As life is getting busier before Christmas, and so that I can try and remain as serene as the woman above (!), I won't be posting quite as regularly as normal. Perhaps, alternate days. Hope you are still able to pop by now and then.

The Comfort of Home

Occasionally, or rather, very occasionally, I create a scrapbook page. Here is a simple digital one I made a while ago.
