Playing with corrugated cardboard
I created this piece in several stages: to start, I ripped off some of the top layer of a piece of cardboard to reveal the corrugations. Onto the remains top layer I collaged several strips of paper and then, when dry, covered them lightly with gesso. Next came a thin layer of light green acrylic paint. I lightly stamped on some script and numbers with black StazOn ink and then stuck on the pictures of the windows (from Dezina World). I used cobalt Archival ink to stamp on the flowers and birds, and then used my white gel pen to highlight some of the features. I also used charcoal to add some shadows and provide some depth. Lastly, I went around the edges with some water-soluble pastels to add some more colour.

Sing
I have been following Jodi Ohl's Faux Encaustic class over at Artful Gathering. The aim is to practice some background techniques and work towards a finished canvas. Well, I have completed my first canvas, which was a bit of an experiment but I have to say I am quite pleased with it. You do need to enlarge it to see it at its best.

Visual journalism 101
Here is the second age I created following Pam Carriker's class. Double-click on it to see it more clearly.
Here are the stages it went through. First, the background.
Then the collage elements.
Followed by doodling.
And then the journalling.
And finally, the definition and added colour to crate the finished page.

Visual journalism 101
I have just started an online class by Pam Carriker at Artful Gathering and this is the first journal page I have created following her guidance.
Here are the various stages it went through before it was finally finished. Firstly, the background created with acrylic paints and stencils.
Then collage elements.
The next stage was the doodling.
And then came the journalling. The last verse of a poem by Philip Larkin, in this case.
To create the finished piece, I then added some colour with water-soluble crayons and added some definition with charcoal pencils.

Black & white ATCs
I made these for a swap. I started by gluing on some script from old book pages and then applied gesso over the whole of the ATCs. I then sprayed black paint through stencils. I stamped various Time Holtz stamps onto strips of vellum and then stapled these onto the ATCs, colouring the staples black. As a final touch, I typed the three words, tore them from the paper, edged them in black and stuck them onto the card.

I've been steampunked!
The instructions from The Three Muses this week is to add a little bit of steampunkerie to a well known person or painting. Well, it had to be Marilyn!

Experiments with shape 1
I realised that most of my digital collage work tends to be square or postcard shaped, so I decided to try out a new shape, a landscape oblong. Here's the first - double-click on it to see it properly.
