Art Journal Caravan pages - weeks 2 & 3

I was laid low with a virus for a couple of weeks during January. When I felt up to it I created some digital journal pages for Art Journal Caravan. You will notice they reflect how I was feeling at the time!

Art Journal Caravan - week 1

I have joined the Art journal Caravan again this year. We were asked to think of a word for the year. Now, I always find things like this difficult to do, but decided to choose the word 'believe'. This is about believing in myself, in my abilities and capacity to do the things I need to do and believing that I can do them well.

Here is my first journal page.

Two tags

These tags are very large, 10.5 X 5 inches. I painted the tags with Distress Paint and then glued on some old dictionary paper. The silhouettes are both part of a Gelli Plate print I created. Once I had torn them to the size I wanted, I glued them over the dictionary paper and then added the words, pen marks and embellishments.

One More!

I expect you are thoroughly bored of all my attempts at drawing/painting faces. Here is a last one for now. A bit of a different style, and her nose isn't quite right, but I'm relatively pleased with the result.

Just Keep Practising!

Three more faces.
My husband pointed out that all my faces look so serious, so I tried to make the next ones look more cheerful.

Less is more

One of my Christmas presents was the book '100 Girls on Cheap Paper' by Tina Berning. I realised that many of her faces are quite minimalistic, whilst looking so good. So, I took that as a challenge. Here are two of the results. The first one isn't great, but the second is better.

This face was drawn over a painted background and then some of her features painted in.

Faces

I have started practising drawing or painting faces again. I think I'm getting better, although there is still room for a lot of improvement. Here's the first two.

A Shadow Box

Over the Christmas break I decorated this little box. It's 4 x 4 inches, and was the packaging for something or other. I decided it was too good to waste, so this is what it looks like now.

Happy New Year!

A journal page. I have to admit, I don't tend to make resolutions, but have admiration for those who do and are able to stick to them.
