Brewing up fun!

Well, Halloween is fast approaching so over the next few days I shall post a few tongue-in-cheek pieces.

Does it need more?

Now I have to admit, I really like this page but I can't decide whether it is finished. What do you think?

A couple of years back I did a free course with Willowing Arts, using a children's board book. I may have posted my first page, but I never posted the second. Well, they both are.

Fading summer

I started this page by stamping various images on it. I added the Artists' Spackle for texture and then, when dry, sprayed the page with various colours of ink. The flower was stamped onto tissue paper and then glued onto the page, over the spackle.

When pigs fly

A digital collage, using elements from various kits of Tangie Baxter's. You can find her at Scrapbook Graphics (SBG).

Artist at work

I started this page by scraping various colours of acrylic paint across the paper using an old credit card. I then added more paint through some stencils. After decorating and attaching the frame, I added the star stamps and words.

Some of my work

This is a screen shot of some of my art. You may recognise some of them from earlier posts.

The background of this page started with acrylic paints. Artists' Spackle was then scraped through a stencil and once dry coloured with spray ink. The collage, photo and stamps were then added.

Shoulder pads

Remembering the 80s! I have some photos of me wearing dresses with huge shoulder pads. Not a good look, but I thought it was back then!

Turning life upside down

I used Dylusions spray inks, stencils and various stamps to create this journal page.

Hope it is not too polluted ...

Don't ask me where in my brain this digital collage came from, but here it is!

Until you spread your wings ...

A small canvas created with paints and stencils.

Sing

This journal page is similar to 'sad' (see my post on 22nd September), but this time I used the face stencil (see yesterday) to make it an altogether much happier page! The background was created with Dylusions spray inks and the round stamps you can see in the background are my first attempt at carving my own stamps. I stamped them with white, blue and black ink.

Some face tags

I recently found a stencil by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer of two girls. I then saw a video on her website using it with spray paints and printing a negative image. Well, of course, I just had to have a go. Here are the results.

Tuesday, 2 October 2012

I recently bought some giant tags, approx. 5 x 12 inches, and so I decided to use one of them to make a 'canvas', using my Lynne Perrella stamps (from Paper Artsy). I had an old piece of plywood hanging around so I decided to use this as my substrate. I covered the face of the board with dark brown paper and then set it aside to dry.

I added the large stamp to the tag and then masked it and added the background stamps in different colours. I then used Pan Pastels to colour the tag, and coloured the stamp using Distress Inks and a water-brush. I cut the tag to make it a bit shorter. Then I spent quite a bit of time making or altering the various embellishments and added these to the tag. I layered the tag onto pieces of scrunched up glassine paper, an oblong of ripped card and then the brown background, having previously edged them with aquamarine Treasure Gold.I hope you like it.

Do not go ...

... where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

This page has lots of layers of acrylic and spray paint, sometimes used through stencils and highlighted with gel pens.
